Easement
An easement is a legally recorded right to use another persons property for a specified purpose. Use of the easement is limited to
the particular right given when the easement was made. For instance, a water line easement cannot be used to run a fiber optic line.
Nor, would a water line easement give you the right to continuously move across that property, unless your access was required to work on the
water line itself.
An easement does not grant you any ownership in the land of another, just a legal right to use it for the reason given. So there
could be any number of types of easements, such as: electric line, gas line, drainage, access (ingress and egress), or you could
name it a "Utilities" easement and then have the right to use it for any kind of utility.
