Closure
Imagine a square piece of property for a moment... First you measure north 100 feet, then you go east 100 feet, then you go south
100 feet. So far you have only measured three sides, but you have to get back to where you started. It should be exactly 100 feet
back, but what if you didn't measure perfectly? What if you measured 100'-2" back to the starting point? This 2" is your error in
closure. Or the way surveyors say it, it was 1:9600 closure ratio.
