Boundary Line Adjustment
This is the adjustment of one or more boundary lines of a legally recorded property deed. This is usually done when a survey reveals
the deed lines are not where they were thought to be on the ground. Once an agreement is made, the licensed surveyor will write
descriptions to the agreed-to location to correct the boundary line. These descriptions will then be used by your title company to
record new deeds at the courthouse making the change permanent. Also, if your property lies in certain jurisdictions, then the
surveyor may have to plat the changes and get official approval, from the city or county you reside in, before it can be filed.
Either way, new deeds will have to be filed to complete the process and make the change permanent, whether it involved platting with
the city or not. This is usually handled by your title company.
